The Tri-Valley Conference released its all-league girls basketball squads earlier today and they’re headlined by a pair of athletes who had outstanding seasons for their respective schools.
In the TVC-Ohio, Athens’ Asa Holcombe took home Player of the Year honors. As the only senior for the Bulldogs, Holcombe averaged 11.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.2 steals per game while leading Athens to a second consecutive league title.
Joining Holcombe on the TVC Ohio’s all-league team are teammates Ella Chapman, Quinn Banks and Lex Koopal. Also on the all-league list are Alexander’s McKenna Moore, Kaylee Hudnall and Lily Ryder, Meigs’ Shelby Yost, Nelsonville-York’s Alayna Okulich and Madi Pidcock, River Valley’s Carlee Manley and Kallie Burger, Vinton County’s Emma Leaming, and Wellston’s Madison Boggs.
Alexander head coach Morgan Grinstead earned Coach of the Year honors. Grinstead has led her Spartans to a 17-7 record and a district final appearance.
Meanwhile, Waterford claimed both the Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards in the TVC-Hocking. Kendall Sury and head coach Jerry Close received the honors, respectively.
The Wildcats are the top-ranked team in Ohio in Division VII. They post a 22-1 record, have claimed the TVC-Hocking title and look to bring home another district title this weekend.
Joining Sury on the all-league list are teammates Avery Smithberger and Avery Wagner. Also receiving honors are Belpre’s Haley Alloway, Julia Way and Gracie Bills, Eastern Meigs’ Braelyn Simpson, Federal Hocking’s Jaylee Osborne, Takira Walker and Brenlee Cotrill, Southern’s Timberlyn Templeton, and Trimble’s McKenzie Eing and Rilynn Fouts.
