CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm needed a bounce-back performance after a tough-to-take overtime loss to Bloom-Carroll on Tuesday.

The Braves got that, and more, as they took down Chillicothe on Thursday night by a 62-38 final in non-league action.

It was a season-high scoring output for the Braves (3-5), who also tallied 10 3-point field goals on the night.

Five of those long-distance shots came from Kiannah Ingram. She tallied 26 points on the night to lead all scorers.

“The 3’s were working for me, and my teammates kept finding me when I was open. So I just kept shooting,” Ingram said after the win.

It was a quick start for both teams with Chillicothe’s Addie Mendel making a 3 in the opening seconds. LE’s Kimmy Petty answered swiftly for the Braves with a 3 of her own.

Maddie Adkins then had a nice sequence for Logan Elm, hitting a layup in transition off a steal and getting fouled after an offensive board.

Chillicothe’s Campbell McAllister hit a 3 off an inbound pass, but again, the lead wouldn’t last long as Logan Elm’s Maggie Wilson made it 8-6 with a triple.

The back-and-forth action continued throughout the first quarter. The game followed the same script, with Mendel’s 3 being answered by the same from Petty.

To end the first quarter, Logan Elm began to break away. It was a 15-11 ballgame after eight minutes, and the final points of the quarter were scored on a layup from Gillian Savage.

Wilson split a pair of free throws to end LE’s 0-for-4 free throw skid to start the second. Then, Savage laid the ball in after a strong offensive rebound from Wilson.

A 6-1 run from the Braves would be capped with a high, arching corner 3 from Petty to give her a game-high nine points at that time.

Up to that point in the second quarter, Chillicothe (0-8) hadn’t made a single field goal. The Cavaliers’ only two points came on two separate trips to the line. That drought would be ended on McAllister’s second 3-pointer of the night.

Ingram had been quiet to that point, with no points in the first quarter. Her first basket of the night came when she did what her team had been doing all evening: a 3 off an inbound made it a 26-18 game.

Chillicothe drew things closer after a layup from Sydnee Wade, but another 3 from Logan Elm, this time from Savage, made it 29-20.

By halftime, it was a 32-21 game with Logan Elm in front.

The third quarter is when things began to unravel for the Cavaliers. In the first minute of the third, layups from Wilson and Ingram gave the Braves four quick points.

It was also the quarter when Ingram scored a big chunk of her 26. After the layup, it was a 3. Then, it was a floater. Then, two more triples. Ingram’s scoring output was 13 in the quarter, outscoring the entirety of Chillicothe’s team by a 13-8 margin.

Altogether, the Braves scored 21 in the third, seizing a 53-29 lead.

The Cavaliers showed some fight in the fourth, despite being down. Mendel continued her nice night with a layup, followed up by another from Miranda Mccloy. McAllister then completed a 6-0 run with a transition layup, making it a 57-35 game.

But it was Ingram and the Braves’ night to celebrate.

Ingram capped off another big offensive night, hitting her final 3, to round out her game-high 26 points before the Braves closed out a 62-38 win.

Following Ingram’s 26 points, Savage had 11 of her own and Petty chipped in with 11.

Chillicothe was led by Mendel, who had 11, while McAllister scored eight.

Both teams are back on the hardwood on Saturday. The Cavaliers will host Jackson in FAC play while Logan Elm travels to Liberty Union in MSL action.
