McDERMOTT — For four years now, Keirah Potts has been laying down a foundation of success for Northwest’s girls basketball program.

The 6-foot-1 senior center has been a cornerstone for the Mohawks, leading the team to an overall record of 19-4 this season with one make-up game remaining.

Monday, she announced a decision that will allow her to continue her basketball career.

Potts, via Twitter, announced her signing with Muskingum University, where she’ll join the Fighting Muskies’ women’s basketball program.

“I picked Muskingum because out of all my choices, it made me feel the most at home,” Potts said. “I’m looking forward to competing at the next level and furthering my education.”

This season, Muskingum is 3-18 overall with a 1-15 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Potts could potentially see playing time as a freshman. When she joins the team, she’ll instantly be the tallest member on its roster.

Either way, if she continues to work as hard as she has at the high school level, Potts will be making an impact soon enough.

“I appreciate the support I’ve had from my family, friends, and coaches through the process as I was trying to decide what collage to attend,” Potts said. “It’s definitely a blessing that I can continue my athletic career and play the game I love.”
