CHILLICOTHE — Two local athletes will be honored by Southern Ohio Sports Authority this week after winning Co-Athlete of the Week honors.
Southeastern’s Aaron Gillum and McClain’s Payton Pryor both enjoyed career-high scoring performances this past week … Gillum’s coming in a win over Manchester and Pryor’s coming in a win over Waverly.
In a 75-50 win over the Greyhounds, Gillum dropped 36 points to lead the Panthers on Saturday. Two days prior, Pryor not only scored a team-high 19 points but she also hit the game-winning shot with less than 15 seconds left on the game clock.
Out of 6,170 public votes, Gillum accounted for 3,071 or 49.7 percent of the total. Pryor finished second in the voting with 2,569, Waverly’s Trey Robertson finished third at 330, Westfall’s Mahaley Farmer was fourth with a count of 111, and Unioto’s Josh Lambert was fifth with 89.
Pryor won her honor by receiving three of the five votes from the guys at SOSA.
For their efforts, Gillum and Pryor will each receive a a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
