COLUMBUS — The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association released its All-Ohio girls basketball honors on Monday and Tuesday, and a handful of names within SOSA’s coverage area graced the list.
In Division II, Fairland’s Bree Allen was tabbed as a first-team All-Ohioan. The all-time leading scorer in her program’s history averaged 15.9 points per game, leading her team to 26 wins and a second straight Final 4 appearance.
Unioto’s Milee Smith is a second-team All-Ohio honor, averaging 17.8 points and leading the Shermans to 21 wins, an SVC title and a district final appearance.
Third-team All-Ohio honors were earned by Fairland’s Kylee Bruce and Circleville’s Addison Edgington.
Bruce was a key catalyst for the Dragons, aiding them to OVC, sectional, district and regional titles, scoring 10.7 points per night. Edgington had her sensational freshman season cut short, but still ended as the Tigers’ leading scorer with 17 points each night.
Special mention honors are highlighted by Jackson’s T.J. Carpenter, Logan Elm’s Kiannah Ingram, Unioto’s Mya Hamilton, Circleville’s Maddie Blakeman and Athens’ Asa Holcombe.
On the honorable mention list is Fairland’s Bailey Russell and Addison Godby, Unioto’s Amaris Betts, Jackson’s Mattie Walburn, Circleville’s Gabby McConnell, Fairfield Union’s Elly Lewis, Waverly’s Caris Risner, Hillsboro’s Blake Herdman and McClain’s Paisley Pryor.
Logan’s Mackenzie Daubenmire was the area’s lone representative in Division I, earning herself a special mention honor.
Portsmouth’s Sienna Allen and Peebles’ Payton Johnson paced the area’s Division III honorees with first-team all-state honors.
Allen led the Trojans to their first regional title and Final 4 appearance in school history, averaging 16 points per game along the way. Johnson, meanwhile, was a nightmare for opponents, averaging 22.9 points and nearly 10 rebounds per night, which helped the Indians secure a sectional title.
West’s Emma Sayre earned herself second-team All-Ohio honors, averaging 16.1 points per night and leading the Senators to a district championship for the second time in school history.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth’s Daysha Reid was tabbed with a third-team All-Ohio honor, helping the Trojans lift their first district crown since 1984, averaging 14.7 points.
Special mention honors in Division III were earned by North Adams’s Kenlie Jones, Chesapeake’s Kate Ball, Adena’s Emma Garrison, South Point’s Camille Hall, South Webster’s Skylar Zimmerman, Lynchburg-Clay’s Addison West and Nelsonville-York’s Airah Levy.
Honorable mention honors featured Minford’s Lindsee Williams and Lexi Conkel, Amanda-Clearcreek’s Taylor Evans, Coal Grove’s Alivia Noel, Adena’s Marly Holcomb, Ironton’s Emerson White, Huntington’s Allie Baker, Lynchburg-Clay’s Jade Massey, Fairfield’s Faith Donley, North Adams’s Katelynn Boerger, Wheelersburg’s Peyton May and West’s Macy Whisman.
In Division IV, Notre Dame’s Gracie Ashley is a second-team all-state selection. Ashley averaged 16.2 points per game, lifting the 21-win Titans to a district championship.
South Gallia’s Morgan Lyons, Green’s Abbie Knapp, and Symmes Valley’s Desiree Simpson are all special mention selections.
Earning honorable mention recognition is Notre Dame’s Ella Kirby and Katie Strickland, South Gallia’s Tori Triplett, Whiteoak’s Jaylie Parr, Valley’s Lexie Morrow, New Boston’s Cassie Williams and Clay’s Emma Emnett.
