SP’s Caleb Lovely headlines District 13 Coaches Association all-district teams

SOUTH POINT — The District 13 Coaches Association released its All-District boys basketball teams with a familiar name headlining the list. 

South Point senior Caleb Lovely has been selected as the district’s Division III Player of the Year after leading his Pointers to a 13-win season. Lovely is the team’s leading scorer and has already broken the program’s career scoring mark.

The Division II and IV Players of the Year were Marietta’s Alex Kendall and Federal Hocking’s Tariq Cottrill.

Here’s a look at the rest of the District 13 selections inside of SOSA’s coverage area.

In Division II, both Jackson’s Boston Campbell and Vinton County’s Garrett Brown are first-team selections.

The second-team list was graced by Vinton County’s Cobra Sharp and Gallia Academy’s Cade Mock while Logan’s Owen Bell, Athens’ Leo Martin, Jackson’s Bodhi Wolford and Stephen Jenkins, Gallia’s Kenyon Franklin, and Vinton County’s Ashton Allman and Owen Hire were honorable mention selections.

Lovely is joined on the Division III first-team list by Ironton’s Braden Schreck, Fairland’s Chase Allen and Brody Buchanan, Coal Grove’s Owen Johnson and Nelsonville-York’s Keagan Swope.

Second-team selections include Chesapeake’s Maddox Kazee and Dannie Maynard, Ironton’s Shaun Terry, and Rock Hill’s Blake Porter.

South Point’s Carter Smith and Xathan Haney, Fairland’s Will Davis, Nelsonville-York’s Bryant Call and Alec Thompson, Wellston’s Wes Briggs and Will Briggs, Ironton’s Bailey Thacker, and Oak Hill’s Mason Davis are honorable mention honorees.

In Division IV, South Gallia’s Tanner Boothe and Symmes Valley’s Ethan Smith are both first-team all-district selections while Symmes Valley’s Will Jones and South Gallia’s pair of Gabe Frazee and Brycen Stanley are second-team honorees.

Honorable mention selections include Ironton St. Joe’s Drew Brown and Eli Whaley, and Symmes Valley’s Aydan Taylor.
