The area’s volleyball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates on Sunday afternoon.
Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.
DIVISION I
Logan, Chillicothe and Teays Valley will all begin their tournament runs as No. 25 seeds or lower.
The Chieftains (10-9) will host Central Crossing at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 while the Vikings (7-13) travel to Columbus DeSales the same evening. Both of those contests are sectional semifinals.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers (11-10) will host Columbus Briggs in a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m., Oct. 18.
DIVISION II
In the Central District, Bloom-Carroll (17-3) is a No. 3 seed and will host Columbus South on Oct. 17 in a sectional semifinal.
Over in the Southeast District, Circleville (17-13) is the top seed and will face the winner of No. 16 Jackson and No. 17 McClain in a sectional final at 6 p.m. on Oct. 19. The Ironladies (8-8) and Tigers (7-14) will lock horns on Oct. 17 with the chance to advance.
No. 2 seed Gallia Academy (17-2) will await River Valley or No. 15 Hillsboro (7-13) in a sectional final on Oct. 19. The Indians will travel to River Valley on Oct. 17. And, rounding out the district’s top three seeds is No. 3 Sheridan, who will host the winner of Vinton County (9-11) and Wellston (4-15), who play on Oct. 17.
Elsewhere, No. 9 Athens (14-6) will travel to No. 8 Unioto (15-4) on Oct. 19. That same evening, No. 12 Logan Elm (7-13) will travel to New Lexington, Warren visits No. 7 Fairland (18-2) and No. 11 Waverly (11-8) visits No. 6 Miami Trace (16-4). All are sectional finals and all start at 6 p.m.
DIVISION III
The coverage area’s largest division is headed by top seed Wheelersburg (18-1), who will face the winner of No. 25 Coal Grove (6-10) and No. 24 West Union (7-11) in a sectional final at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20.
No. 2 Adena (18-2) will host either No. 23 Eastern Brown or No. 26 Ironton on Oct. 20. The Warriors (8-13) will host the Tigers (4-12) in a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18. Meanwhile, No. 3 South Webster (18-2) will host either Federal Hocking or No. 22 Portsmouth (7-11), who matchup on Oct. 18 as well.
No. 5 Zane Trace (15-4) will wait on the winner of Crooksville and No. 20 Piketon (6-14) for a sectional championship while No. 6 Southeastern (13-6) will await No. 19 Valley (7-10) or South Point. Both of those contests will take place on Oct. 20 while the sectional semifinals will take place at 6 p.m., Oct. 18.
Other sectional semifinal contests include No. 31 Oak Hill (0-19) at No. 18 Minford (7-12), No. 32 Lynchburg-Clay (1-15) at Meigs — the winner of which will play at No. 8 Fairfield (15-4) — and Belpre at No. 21 Rock Hill (7-12). All of those matches will be at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18.
Other sectional championship matches include No. 13 Northwest (10-9) at No. 12 Peebles (12-6), No. 14 Westfall (7-13) at No. 11 Huntington (9-10), No. 15 Paint Valley (6-12) at No. 10 West (12-6), and No. 10 Chesapeake (8-9) at No. 9 North Adams (13-6).
In the Central District, No. 19 Amanda-Clearcreek (5-14) will travel to Johnstown for a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18.
DIVISION IV
In Division IV, the Southeast District’s top seed is Trimble, who will matchup with No. 16 East (1-15) in a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m., Oct. 17. The winner faces either No. 9 Eastern (5-13) or No. 8 Whiteoak (11-9) in a sectional final on Oct. 19.
Notre Dame (15-4) is the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 15 Manchester (3-14) in a sectional semifinal while No. 10 Green (7-13) goes to No. 7 Symmes Valley (7-10). The winner will play each other for a sectional championship.
Elsewhere, No. 5 Western (12-7) hosts No. 12 Clay (6-12) in a sectional semifinal while Eastern Meigs goes to No. 6 New Boston (10-7). Both of those contests will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17.
In the Southwest District, No. 2 Fayetteville (10-8) hosts the winner of Middletown Christian and Cincinnati College Prep in a district semifinal on Oct. 19 while No. 7 Ripley (4-12) goes to Lockland for a sectional final on Oct. 17.
