WILLIAMSPORT — There’s having a “good night” and then there’s having the night Vijay Wangui had Monday.
Unioto’s senior forward came into the action with 11 goals on the season. When he traveled home, he had 17.
Wangui’s six goals — five in the first half alone — not only led to an 18-0 victory over Westfall, the team’s seventh victory this year, but it also set the school’s new single-game scoring record.
The record was previously held by former All-Ohioan Tyler Bryant, who scored five goals in a 7-5 win in 2006. The Ross County record for goals in a single game was set by Unioto’s Jayla Campbell, who scored seven.
Alongside Wangui’s six goals and three assists, Ethan Kerns had three of his own, as well as three assists. Cameron DeBord, Carson DeBord and Micah Geise all had two goals each, and Ashton Sigler, Levi Cochenour and Cameron Meade found the back of the net once.
Wangui and the Shermans now sit at 7-1 this season and are back in action Thursday at Alexander.
