Here’s where each area softball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area softball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s softball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

DIVISION I

In Division I, Chillicothe (12-8) is a No. 17 seed and will host Dublin Jerome in a sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. on May 7.

Meanwhile, Logan (4-9) drew a No. 40 seed and will play host to Groveport Madison the same evening.

DIVISION II

The top-seeded team in SOSA’s coverage area is No. 2 Unioto (15-3). The Shermans will take on the winner of No. 15 Miami Trace (4-7) and No. 18 Marietta at 5 p.m. on May 8. 

Hillsboro (16-2) has earned the No. 3 seed and will host the winner of No. 14 Warren and No. 19 Gallia Academy (3-11). 

That same evening, No. 4 Logan Elm (17-2) hosts No. 13 McClain (6-9), No. 5 Jackson (11-5) hosts No. 12 Waverly (7-8), No. 6 Circleville (9-6) takes on No. 11 New Lexington, No. 7 Fairland (9-2) hosts No. 10 Vinton County (8-7) and No. 8 Athens (12-3) welcomes No. 9 Fairfield Union (7-7). 

Additionally, No. 16 River Valley faces No. 17 Washington (4-12) on May 6 with the winner taking on No. 1 Sheridan.

DIVISON III

Two-time reigning state champion Wheelersburg (13-2) is the top seed in Division III and will await the winner of No. 24 South Point (5-14) and No. 25 Southeastern on May 9.

First round games also played that evening will feature No. 2 South Webster (18-2) against the winner of No. 23 Eastern Brown (4-8) and No. 26 Minford (3-13), No. 3 Adena (16-3) against either No. 27 Alexander or No. 22 Peebles (4-6), and No. 4 Wellston (12-1) against either No. 21 Chesapeake (5-13) or No. 28 Oak Hill (3-12).

Additionally, No. 5 Ironton (16-4) faces either No. 29 West Union (1-9) or No. 20 Portsmouth (4-10), No. 6 Northwest (14-4) takes on No. 19 North Adams (6-9) or No. 30 Nelsonville-York (0-12), and No. 7 Fairfield (11-5) faces either No. 18 Westfall (5-8) or No. 31 Federal Hocking (0-11). 

No. 9 Piketon (12-7) plays No. 16 Zane Trace (7-8), No. 11 West (11-5) plays No. 14 Rock Hill (10-9), No. 12 Huntington (11-9) plays No. 13 Crooksville, No. 15 Coal Grove (9-7) travels to No. 10 Belpre, No. 17 Lynchburg-Clay (8-6) travels to play No. 18 Meigs. 

In the Central District, Amanda-Clearcreek (6-10) is a No. 13 seed and will host Madison Plains in a sectional semifinal on May 8.

DIVISION IV

Top-seeded Notre Dame (17-3) faces the winner between No. 16 Green (1-9) and No. 17 South Gallia (1-11) on May 8, while No. 2 Valley (12-4) faces the winner of No. 15 Waterford and No. 18 New Boston (0-9) that same evening.

Elsewhere, No. 3 Symmes Valley (14-6) faces No. 14 Paint Valley (2-17), No. 5 Manchester (9-3) plays No. 12 Western (6-11), No. 6 Eastern (13-6) faces No. 11 Trimble, No. 7 Clay (10-4) plays No. 10 Whiteoak (6-8), and No. 13 East (4-5) plays at No. 4 Southern and No. 13 Whiteoak (6-11).
