SOUTH POINT — After leading South Point to 14 wins and a sectional championship, senior Caleb Lovely has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year — his second career OVC POY honor.
Lovely, again, was magnificent throughout the season. He averaged 19.2 points per game and was also the District 13 Player of the Year.
The league’s Coach of the Year honor went to Chesapeake’s Steven Ater, who led his Panthers to a league championship.
Chesapeake’s Maddox Kazee, Dannie Maynard and Kaden Perkins were all first-team honorees while Braxton Oldaker was an honorable mention selection.
Joining Lovely, Kazee, Maynard and Perkins with first-team honors is Portsmouth’s Deandre Berry and Donnovan Breech, Ironton’s Braden Schreck and Shaun Terry, Fairland’s Chase Allen and Brody Buchanan, South Point’s Carter Smith and Xathan Haney, Gallia’s Cade Mock, Rock Hill’s Blake Porter and Coal Grove’s Owen Johnson.
Honorable mention selections, alongside Oldaker, are as follows: Portsmouth’s Malachi Loper, Ironton’s Bailey Thacker, Fairland’s Will Davis, South Point’s Josh Childers, Gallia’s Kenyon Franklin, Rock Hill’s Izaak Cox and Coal Grove’s Kody Harmon.
