PROCTORVILLE — The District 13 Coaches Association released its All-District girls basketball teams with a duo of familiar names headlining the list.
In Division I/II, Fairland’s Bree Allen was tabbed as the Player of the Year while Nelsonville-York’s Airah Lavy earned that honor in Division III.
Allen was the catalyst behind the Dragons’ 22-1 season, helping them win a share of the OVC title and a sectional championship. She became the program’s all-time leading scorer by averaging 15 points and 7.4 rebounds per night.
Lavy left a legacy forever unmatched as she averaged 22.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, etching her name into stone as the greatest scorer in Nelsonville-York history.
Here’s a look at the rest of the District 13 selections inside of SOSA’s coverage area.
Joining Allen on the first-team list is teammate Kylee Bruce, Jackson’s T.J. Carpenter and Athens’ Asa Holcombe.
On the second-team list is Jackson’s Mattie Walburn, Logan’s MaKenzie Dubenmire and Fairland’s duo of Bailey Russell and Addison Godby.
Special mention honors were earned by Vinton County’s McKenna Thompson, Athens’ Ella Chapman, Jackson’s Kenzie Davis, Fairland’s Kam Barnitz, Logan’s Dana Mahaffey, Gallia Academy’s Kenya Pack and Wellston’s Madison Potts.
Fairland coach Jon Buchanan was named the Division II District 13 Coach of the Year.
Alongside Lavy on the first-team list in Division III is Chesapeake’s Kate Ball, South Point’s Camillie Hall and Coal Grove’s Alivia Noel, while Ironton’s Emerson White made second-team.
Ironton’s Emerson White and Alexander’s Kaylee Hudnall appeared on the second-team list.
Special mention honors were highlighted by Alexander’s Lily Ryder, Rock Hill’s trio of Jlynn Risner, Hope Easterling and Emma Scott, Nelsonville-York’s Alayna Okulich, Coal Grove’s Kinsy Kenney, South Point’s Saratina Jackson and Chesapeake’s Erin Hicks.
Making the first-team list in Division IV was Symmes Valley’s Desiree Simpson and South Gallia’s pair of Morgan Lyons and Tori Triplett.
Special mention honors were earned by South Gallia’s Lindsey Wells, Madison Summers and Jacie Boothe as well as Symmes Valley’s Jordan Ellison and Kailyn Maynard.
Waterford’s Kendall Sury was named the Player of the Year while her coach, Jerry Close, is the Division IV District 13 Coach of the Year.
