The area’s girls basketball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

The area’s lone Division I teams are No. 31 Chillicothe and No. 48 Logan.

The Chieftains will travel to Olentangy Berlin for a sectional semifinal matchup on Feb. 21 while the Cavaliers travel to play the winner of Marysville and Westerville North in a sectional final on Feb. 24.

DIVISION II

The top-seeded Division II team in our area is Fairland. The Dragons have earned a No. 1 seed and will await the winner of No. 17 Miami Trace at No. 16 Gallia Academy.

The Panthers and Blue Angels will meet on Feb. 12 while the winner advances to take on Fairland at Ironton High School in a sectional sectional final on Feb. 15.

The No. 2 seed, Circleville, will await the winner of No. 16 Washington and No. 15 Vinton County at Zane Trace High School. Meanwhile, No. 3 Sheridan will take on the winner of No. 14 Fairfield Union and No. 19 Wellston at Logan High School.

Each of those sectional semifinal matchups are set for Feb. 12 while the sectional championship games are scheduled for Feb. 15.

Other sectional final matchups are as follows: No. 13 McClain vs. No. 4 Unioto at Zane Trace, No. 12 Logan Elm vs. No. 5 Marietta at Alexander, No. 10 Waverly vs. No. 7 Athens at Jackson, No. 11 Hillsboro vs. No. 6 Jackson at Chillicothe.

The district semifinal rounds will be played on Feb. 22 and 24 at Southeastern High School, with the two district championship games, also at SEHS, slated for Feb. 28.

All seven of those programs will have first round byes and will play in sectional championship games on either Feb. 15 or 17.

The division’s sectional semifinal matchups will all be held on Feb. 12. Those matchups are as follows: Ironton at Meigs with the winner playing Portsmouth, Zane Trace at Coal Grove (Minford), Oak Hill at Wheelersburg (Lynchburg-Clay), Northwest at Rock Hill (Peebles), Crooksville at Piketon (North Adams), West Union at Eastern Brown (West), and Westfall at Fairfield (Adena).

Elsewhere, in the Central District, AmandaClearcreek is a No. 3 seed and will host Northridge in a sectional semifinal on Feb. 20. A win would pit the Aces against either Liberty Union or Harvest Prep.
