Here’s where each area softball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area softball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s softball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

DIVISION I

In the area’s largest division, No. 28 Chillicothe (11-10) will travel to take on Tri-Valley on May 8 at 5 p.m. Elswhere, No. 30 Logan (8-8) will host Reynoldsburg while No. 3 Teays Valley (19-3) awaits the winner of either Hilliard Darby or Canal Winchester in a Division I sectional final on May 10.

DIVISION II

The top-seeded team in SOSA’s coverage area is No. 1 Athens (19-0). The Bulldogs will take on the winner of No. 16 Warren and No. 17 Washington (1-15) at 5 p.m. on May 10. 

Unioto (18-1) has earned the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of No. 15 Waverly (6-11) and No. 18 Marietta. 

That same evening, No. 3 Hillsboro (17-2) hosts No. 14 McClain (6-11), No. 4 Circleville (15-5) hosts No. 13 Fairfield Union (6-12), No. 6 Fairland (14-3) takes on No. 11 New Lexington, No. 7 Jackson (13-4) hosts No. 10 Miami Trace (8-12) and No. 8 Logan Elm (11-8) welcomes No. 9 Vinton County (9-6). 

Additionally, No. 12 Gallia Academy (6-14) travels to take on No. 5 Sheridan.

DIVISON III

Wheelersburg (22-0) is the top seed in Division III and will await the winner of No. 25 Chesapeake (5-14) and No. 24 Alexander on May 11.

First round games also played that evening will feature No. 2 West (18-3) against the winner of No. 23 Nelsonville-York (6-12) and No. 26 North Adams (5-11), No. 3 Adena (16-3) against either No. 27 Minford (4-14) or No. 22 Crooksville, and No. 4 South Webster (15-4) faces off against either No. 21 Huntington (9-12) or No. 28 South Point (3-15). 

Additionally, No. 5 Northwest (14-6) takes on No. 20 Eastern Brown (10-7) or No. 29 Oak Hill (2-14), No. 6 Portsmouth (15-6) faces either No. 19 Coal Grove (9-11) or No. 30 West Union (2-12) while No. 7 Wellston (13-6) takes on either No. 18 Piketon (11-10) or No. 31 Federal Hocking.

No. 8 Ironton (12-6) plays No. 17 Rock Hill (10-10), No. 9 Zane Trace (11-6) plays No. 16 Lynchburg-Clay (10-7), No. 11 Fairfield (10-6) plays No. 14 Westfall (10-9) while No. 15 Southeastern (10-10) travels to play No. 10 Belpre. 

In the Central District, Amanda-Clearcreek (6-10) is a No. 13 seed and will host Madison Plains in a sectional semifinal on May 8.

DIVISION IV

Top-seeded Notre Dame (15-3) faces the winner between No. 16 New Boston (3-10) and No. 17 Green (3-13) on May 10.

That same evening, No. 2 Manchester (15-1) faces the winner of No. 15 Western (4-15) and No. 18 South Gallia, while No. 3 Symmes Valley (14-6) faces the winner of No. 14 Paint Valley (5-16) and No. 19 East (2-16). 

Elsewhere, No. 6 Valley (9-8) faces No. 11 Peebles (5-13), No. 7 Clay (8-10) plays No. 10 Miller, No. 8 Eastern (8-11) plays No. 9 Waterford and No. 13 Whiteoak (6-11) plays at No. 4 Eastern Meigs.
