Here’s where each area boys basketball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area boys basketball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s boys basketball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

NOTE: All sectional tournament games are hosted by the highest seeded team.

DIVISION I

Leading the area’s Division I teams is No. 22 Teays Valley (13-4), who will play host to Hilliard Darby at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21. in a sectional semifinal. No. 45 Chillicothe (5-15) awaits the winner of No. 46 Logan (2-15) and Olentangy Orange on Feb. 24 in a sectional final. 

DIVISION II

The area’s top-seeded team in Division II is Washington (16-4). The Blue Lions will host either No. 16 Athens or No. 17 Hillsboro (5-12), who play on Feb. 18, in a sectional final Feb. 22.

Also receiving first-round byes are No. 2 Fairfield Union (15-3), No. 3 Miami Trace (16-3) and No. 4 New Lexington. 

The Falcons will host either No. 15 Logan Elm (4-14) or No. 18 McClain (4-15), the Panthers host either No. 14 Circleville (10-9) or No. 19 Waverly (1-16) while No. 13 Jackson (9-9) and No. 20 River Valley face off to see who plays the Panthers of New Lexington. 

All sectional semifinal matchups will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18. 

Elsewhere, No. 9 Vinton County (12-4) will travel to No. 8 Warren, No. 10 Unioto (11-7) will go to Marietta, No. 11 Alexander will meet with No. 6 Gallia Academy (14-6) while No. 5 Ironton (12-5) hosts Sheridan. 

Those matchups, all of which are sectional championship games, will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22.

In the Central District, No. 9 Bloom-Carroll (10-8) plays the winner of Granville and Whitehall in a sectional championship on Feb. 24.

DIVISION III

The top-seeded team in the area’s largest division is the Minford Falcons (15-1).

Minford, who was also the No. 1 seed last season, will await the winner of No. 16 West (7-12) and No. 17 Eastern Brown (7-12) — who meet in a sectional semifinal on Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 in a sectional championship.

Also receiving first-round byes is No. 2 South Point (15-3), No. 3 Zane Trace (15-3) and No. 4 North Adams (16-4)

The Pointers will host the winner of No. 15 Peebles (9-11) and No. 18 Portsmouth (6-11), the Pioneers will host either No. 14 Rock Hill (9-9) or No. 19 Oak Hill (5-13) while the Green Devils host either Belpre or No. 20 Adena (5-13). 

Elsewhere, No. 5 Valley (13-5) hosts No. 28 West Union (1-17), No. 6 Wheelersburg (13-5)  hosts Crooksville, No. 7 Fairland (12-7) welcomes No. 26 Huntington (4-14) and No. 8 Northwest (13-4) hosts No. 25 Southeastern (5-14).

No. 9 Lynchburg-Clay (11-7) hosts No. 24 Coal Grove, No. 11 Chesapeake (8-11) hosts Meigs, No. 12 Westfall (9-9) hosts No. 21 Piketon (5-12) and No. 23 Wellston (6-11) travels to play at Nelsonville-York.  

All of the above games are sectional semifinal matchups, slated for 7 p.m. on Feb. 21.

In the Central District, No. 26 Amanda-Clearcreek (2-18) will play the winner between Africentric and Cristo Ray in a sectional championship on Feb. 24. 

DIVISION IV

In Division IV, No. 1 Fairfield (17-0) will host the winner of No. 17 East (7-11) and No. 16 Symmes Valley (6-12) on Feb. 24 in a sectional title game. The Tartans will meet with the Vikings on Feb. 20.

Following the same blueprint, South Webster (13-5) is a No. 3 seed and will host either South Gallia or Eastern Meigs. Paint Valley (14-5) earned a No. 4 seed and hosts either No. 13 New Boston (9-10) or Miller, while No. 5 Green (16-4) welcomes either No. 12 Ironton St. Joe (8-8) or No. 21 Clay (0-18). 

Elsewhere in sectional title games, No. 6 Notre Dame (13-5) welcomes No. 11 Whiteoak (8-10), No. 7 Eastern (10-9) hosts Trimble while No. 8 Western (11-8) welcomes Waterford. Those games will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24.
