Wheelersburg’s Jocelyn Tilley wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Tilley scored the game-tying goal in a district final win.

SOSA Staff Report

WHEELERSBURG — When things looked dim, Wheelersburg’s Jocelyn Tilley came through in the biggest of ways.

In a Division III district final against Eastern Brown, Tilley scored the game-tying goal with just 3:58 left on the game clock. That score helped the Pirates eventually top the Warriors by a 4-3 score in overtime, claiming their fourth district crown in the past five seasons.

For her efforts, Tilley is SOSA’s 28th overall SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Out of 2,572 total votes, Tilley won 1,208 or 47 percent. Northwest’s Landen Smith was second in the voting with 1,104, Notre Dame’s Annie Dettwiller was third with a count of 135, and South Webster’s Faith Maloney was fourth at 125.

Tilley received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA to win the award.

For her efforts, Tilley will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
