Division IV District Semifinal: South Webster 3, Western 0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-11)
All year long, South Webster has been handing opponents sweeps. In fact, heading into Thursday’s Division IV district semifinal matchup with Western, the Jeeps had swept 16 of their 20 opponents.
Make that 17 of 20.
The Jeeps (20-1) handed Western a 25-6, 25-12, 25-11 loss, advancing into a district final, where they’ll try to win their second consecutive district championship.
Western (10-13) ends its season after winning a sectional title. The Indians are forced to say goodbye to seniors Brooklyn Leedy, Abbi Grooms, Mea Henderson and Paige Davis.
Statistically, the Jeeps were led by Faith Maloney with 12 kills, three blocks and eight digs while Bri Claxon added eight kills, four aces and 12 digs. Graci Claxon had 13 digs, Gwen Messer finished with seven kills and two aces, and Isabella Claxon tallied six kills, 10 digs and 19 assists.
South Webster will meet with Notre Dame in a Division IV district final at 3 p.m., Saturday at Southeastern High School. Earlier this season, the Jeeps swept the Titans, 25-17, 25-20, 25-12.
Division IV District Semifinal: Trimble 3, Eastern 0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-11)
The Eagles (8-16) ended their season with a tough loss to Trimble on Thursday in a Division IV district semifinal. Eastern is forced to say goodbye to seniors Tiffany Burkitt, Skylar White, Chloe Dixon, Tinlie Riley and Andee Lester.
Trimble (20-4) will now meet with Waterford in a Division IV district final, a 3-0 winner over Miller.
