PORTSMOUTH — The game may have been called due to lightning, but the final result still counted … and that’s all that mattered to Notre Dame.

The Titans (1-2, 1-2 SOC I) outgained Green by a 235-27 margin and scored on five of their drives as they cruised to a 35-0 victory over the Bobcats (0-3, 0-3 SOC I) on Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
The win snapped a 12-game losing streak for the Titans, dating back to the 2018 season.
“We had great energy in practice all week, and coming off the game against Northwest, we knew we had to work harder,” Notre Dame quarterback Caleb Nichols said. “We watched a lot of film on Green and knew their offense pretty well, so we just came out ready to get after it and end our losing streak.”
Notre Dame didn’t forget last season’s loss in overtime either, and with it fresh in their minds, the Titans went to work early.
It took three plays to get on the board with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Nichols to Dylan Seison. From there, they were off to the races.

“I was thinking about that play all week and just waiting for us to call it,” Seison said. “As soon as it was called, I knew it was going for a touchdown. I saw the linebacker go in, instead of dropping back in coverage. Once Caleb threw the ball, it was just a matter of concentrating and catching it.”
Sesion came up with an interception on the very next play, and three plays later, Logan Emnett found the end zone from three yards out, pushing the score to 12-0.
But Sesion wasn’t finished yet. Following a punt return to set the Titans up at the Green 22-yard line, Seison took a jet sweep and raced 22 yards to the end zone for a 19-0 lead.
Two possessions later, Emnett found the end zone again, this time on a 12-yard run. He finished the game with seven carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
“I trust Logan just the same as every other guy on the team,” Seison said. “He runs the ball hard every time he gets a carry and good things tend to happen. He keeps his head straight and runs through players.”
Seison had one final touchdown left in him as Nichols found the senior receiver wide open for a 12-yard touchdown pass to cap the final score.
“We wanted this game, and knew we had a chance based on how we practiced this week and played Green last season,” Seison said. “Last year, we lost in overtime which was pretty heartbreaking. We wanted payback and got it.”
Green is back in action on Friday at Northwest while Notre Dame travels to play Eastern.
“If we keep the same energy and level of preparation that we had last week into this week, I believe that we can beat Eastern,” Nichols said.
