McDERMOTT — If you haven’t heard of Reagan Lewis just yet, write her name down.
Last Monday, Northwest’s sophomore setter logged her 1,000th career assist in five-set match against North Adams. With this year’s tournament and a full two seasons left to play, the Mohawks’ captain’s future — as well as her team’s — is bright.

“Reagan was chosen as a freshman last year to be the varsity setter,” Northwest coach Elizabeth Lewis said. “She has a very quiet personality and has had to step out of her comfort zone to lead this team. I am very pleased with how she has stepped up and embraced the position. She is always working hard to improve.”
As a freshman, Lewis tallied 451 assists and averaged 6.6 per set. She’s significantly bettered those numbers this fall as she currently owns 604 assists and is averaging 8.5 per set.
That’s a total of 1,055 assists alongside 42 aces and 315 digs in her career.
Lewis’ development as a setter certainly has a tie with her team’s development as a whole. Last season, the Mohawks finished 11-12 overall with a 6-8 mark in the SOC II. This fall, they stand at 15-7 and 10-6.
What’s even better is the fact that most of this year’s group will be back on the court next season … the Mohawks have just two seniors in Addisyn Newman and Alexis Stamper.
Lewis and her teammates will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Oct. 19, hosting Fairfield in a Division III sectional final. A win would give the Mohawks their first sectional title since 2014.
“I definitely couldn’t have done this without my team,” Lewis said of her 1,000th assist. “I’m so honored to be a part of this team and am excited to see what the future holds for us.”
