CHILLICOTHE — This past June, Southeastern senior Lane Ruby received an opportunity to represent his hometown at the state level in Canton, Ohio.
His performance there, while competing in a Blue-Grey All-American Super Combine at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, will now allow him to represent his community at the national level.
This week, Ruby received an official invitation to compete in the annual Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, which will be held on Jan. 4, 2020 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. — home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The game, which begins at 1:30 p.m., will be televised on ESPN3 and features recruits from 22 Eastern states, as well as 17 Western states.
When he suits up for the North Squad, Ruby will be one of just 55 senior recruits on the roster. The two rosters are made up of 110 athletes that were chosen from a pool of over 6,750 across the nation.
Ruby’s coaching staff will consist of former NFL players and he’ll have the opportunity to play in front of over 650 collegiate coaching staffs.
Also of note, Ruby has been listed as a wide receiver and will play the position during the event.
In his three seasons under center at Southeastern, Ruby has led the Panthers to two state playoff appearances and a Gold Ball with an overall mark of 24-9.
The Panthers begin their regular season on Aug. 30, hosting Northwest.
