CHILLICOTHE — Coming into Sunday, Waverly Post 142 had already beaten Greenville (7-0), Hillsboro (11-1) and Chillicothe (7-5) over the weekend.
The Shockers (8-6), behind a a stout offense that pounded out 13 hits, earned win No. 4 with a 12-11 decision over Blissfield (Mich.) Post 325 in the semifinals of the Jadwin Memorial Tournament before falling to Jefferson Post 33 by a 12-3 final in the championship game, earning a runner-up finish.
Against Blissfield, both Kannon Pack and Macky McDonald led 142’s offense. Pack was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI while McDonald went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.
Tanner Cunningham also helped out, finishing 1-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs while Ian Gillen was 1-for-4 with three RBIs. In total, nine different players collected hits.
In the loss to Post 33, McDonald was 2-for-2 with a run, Gillen was 1-for-4 and Weston Roop finished 1-for-2. However, that accounted for the team’s total of four hits.
Meanwhile, Jefferson 33 posted 15 base hits, sealing the championship late in the game after facing a 3-2 deficit.
The Shockers will be back in action Tuesday evening, hosting Athens 21.
